Innovation Management at DTI

As Centre Project Leader at the Center for Ideas and Innovation at the Danish Technological Institute, I manage innovation projects and provide leadership at both strategic and operational levels.

Day-to-Day Work​

I oversee our invention portfolio, ensuring that every customer engagement is handled with care, quality, and a strong focus on design thinking.

My role involves:

  • Developing digital and analog frameworks for innovation, including method cards for customer development, jobs-to-be-done, user journeys, UX, and collaboration tools.

  • Creating visual, motivational content that enhances teamwork and productivity.

  • Utilizing Kanban boards, team channels, and Miro boards to streamline collaboration.

Advisory & Consulting

Beyond my core role, I advise inventors, stratups, and organizations on erly-stage idea development, covering: 

  • Design thinking and user-centered methodologies.

  • UX tools, prototyping, and business model design.

  • Commercialization strategies, including sustainability, design strategies and IP strategy.
     

Inventor Advisory Service

Each year, we evaluate 1,000+ new inventions, providing forward-thinking advice on problem definition, user experience, and commercialization.

  • 100 inventions move to our extended portfolio for in-depth guidance.

  • 10–20 innovations become commercially viable.

Strategic Leadership

I support our Center Director in key decisions, including:

  • New assignments, hiring, and division strategy development.

  • Futures thinking—creating strategic scenarios to reduce risk in large innovation projects.

 

Driving Change & Team Development

I’ve led key change management initiatives, redesigning:

  • Team structures and job roles for our inventor advisors and creative consultants.

  • Work habits, making progress more visible using digital Kanban boards and structured protocols for invention management.

Thoughts on AI x Human Creativity

As AI reshapes the landscape of innovation, we need to adapt quickly. AI-enhanced creativity is here to stay, but like any tool, it can’t stand alone. Humans remain essential in many parts of the innovation process, and we should be asking: when does synthetic intelligence excel, and when is human experience irreplaceable?

AI tools can be powerful for understanding users, generating ideas, and analyzing contexts, but they’re not flawless. They follow the Gartner Hype Cycle, and I’ve personally experienced the disillusionment phase—only to come out the other side with a deeper appreciation for their potential.

 

I enjoy experimenting with text-to-text, voice-to-text, text-to-image, and I’ve even built personal AI assistants that operate within safe, well-defined playfields. As a designer and naturally curious mind, I see these tools as a creative playground.

Just like startups, larger organizations must adapt quickly to shifts in user behavior and market dynamics. By using AI alongside traditional design thinking methods, we can:

  • Map user insights more effectively

  • Deepen reflection and critical thinking within organizations

  • Empower teams to think more productively

 

I’ve found that combining digital tools with tangible protocol cards helps shift mindsets toward a space of daring—where both success and failure are recognized as essential steps in the learning and innovation process.
